“One’s destination is never a place, but always a new way of seeing things.”
Henry Miller
I always wonder how everything is differ in the world – quite the opposite, like me and my friend Mauro. Mauro has been traveling to wonderful Krakow at summer (when it was a winter in his homeland in Brazil), but I was traveling to Krakow at winter! And it shows the opposite view to the same city – different pictures, feelings, views. I was in Krakow right before the New Year – at the end of december. And I was lucky – I saw this amazing city under white and fluffy cover. It was quiet winter snowing day, 30th of December. Our hotel wasn’t in the center so we went by bus to see all sights. What I like in winter, it’s when you wake up and go outside, you feel like you’re in a fairy tale! Everything is white and it’s so quiet around. In a slow rhythm we went to Wawel Royal Castle, the same castle with a Dragon and real fire even at winter, which has described Mauro. It looked amazing, everything is white and it brought the feeling of peace and Middle Ages. For a moment I forgot where am I, which was the day and year… just enjoyed the walk. It felt so royal but at the same time so close to my heart, so warm… Then we fed ducks in the river with a bread – there were so many ducks and swans, they were so cute. The winter views really amazing – everything looks so different, different colors, like in the picture. I liked to walk in the city, seeing sights, with free English tour guide and surrounding people from all over the world, but it was a bit slipperily because of snow. This old and the same time beautiful city makes you be in love with it’s special architecture, comfortable streets and peace in the air. Snow makes each photo be perfect and you want to enjoy it more and more. Winter traveling is shorter than at summer because the day is much shorter and it’s much colder – you need to be dressed very warmly to feel comfortable. But at the same time you feel the the new year is so close. Everything was decorated amazing – Christmas trees, lights, unusual decorations. And the best part of it – we could enjoy the Christmas fair in the main square, where we bought same tasty cookies for a present and got warm with mulled wine. In the evening you always can see the city under other angle – but at winter it’s even more exciting – you see the city in Christmas lights. The spirit intercepts with delight – how amazing life is… Next time I’ll tell you about my other dream which came true in cold Krakow…
