Remember that happiness is a way of travel – not a destination.”
Roy M. Goodman
My trip to Lithuania started from a long waiting in queue on the border Belarus/Lithuania. While other passengers in our bus were nervous and walked around the bus waiting for our turn, I was peacefully sleeping in the bus as I knew that I can’t change that situation and our guide and drivers were the ones who could do that. Customs officers are not always helpful and sometimes passing the border takes really a lot of time. In our case they allowed all regular buses pass before us so we had to wait way too long. But I didn’t really notice the time since I slept as I would prefer to spend more time walking in a new places later so I had to have more strength for that. It was the end of the summer and luckily the weather was warm and sunny. We had to arrive to the capital of the Lithuania early in the morning but since we crossed the borders too long, we were not in time. There was an excursion to Trakai castle which I didn’t want to attend so I didn’t pay for it and instead I had a chance to walk in the capital more time. And according to our schedule, we had to arrive first to the capital first and then those who paid for the excursion had to go to Trakai. But since we were too late our guide decided to go directly to Trakai so people who paid for the excursion (and there were only couple people who didn’t pay including me) would have more time to enjoy it and the lunch they paid for. So since we didn’t go with the group, we had an opportunity to slowly take a walk, to see beautiful lakes around and to enjoy the view of the well known castle. Since it’s located on the island surrounding with a pretty small lake, I got a brilliant idea – to rent a catamaran which were all around and that’s what we did. It was even so sporty after long time sitting in a bus and I really missed doing some exercises. It was a sunny lovely day and the sailing was amazing. We had even better opportunity to see Trakai castle from all sides and take unique photos. It was even better option to 00visit that beautiful place and I never reject an opportunity to be closer to the water, to sail and have new experience. And it was really cheap – 7 or 8 euro per hour and it took us 40 mins to sail around the castle, take all photos and to see all local beauty. So we saved 45 euro visiting that place and it was a real gift. I used to accept everything what happens unexpectedly as a gift and I was so grateful so everything happened that way. It was a lovely trip and a beautiful but very small village. But it worth to visit anyway
